He is an accomplished intellect. I don’t think any of these people on this list would be where they are if they weren’t intelligent, many to the point of giftedness. It’s well known that some very influential Jewish people are pretty much in control of the media, and AOL watches everything we say, etc etc, but this engenders a question in my mind. Why don’t the higher ups in the media do something about these right wing fundamentalist “christians,” who are nothing more than a hate group? I did see Ted Koppel get a piece of Jimmy Swaggert once, and I must say I was proud of Ted. I have seen these so called “christians” pay lip service to the Jews and to Israel, but don’t count on it. Most of them are mentally ill illiterates who are on mental drugs and government checks. For proof, I will refer you to AOL’s Born Again Online chat room, listed under “special interests.” I am basically a free thinker, but was raised Catholic, and I see sincerity in the Catholic church and its approach. These bornagainers exist to hate catholics and are full of hate. They glorify ignorance. Their existence online is more than salient, and I see some kind of an agenda here on AOLs part. I have complained to AOL for years about anti-catholic hate speech, yet they everything but endorse it in their chat rooms. The only thing you will ever see in me is a sincere honesty. This is my approach to life. I see AOL’s name all over this list, and have a right to ask why they are tolerating/encouraging these mentally ill misfits in what amounts to Hate Speech. I don’t fully understand the history of past antipathy between Jews and the Catholic Church, but I would like to think that AOL isn’t carrying a grudge. I do know that many, many Jews were victimized in the Spanish Inquisition, the causative factors of which I am ignorant, but I don’t endorse any injustices that may have occurred. It is however noteworthy that throughout history, competing religious systems have all had blood on their hands.
Let me offer a palatable analogy on this, if I may. I once consorted with a hooker who had a brand new Lincoln Continental. She saw a lot of shyness in me and gave me a pep talk, which believe me, I needed and appreciated. She pointed to her car and said “If you want something in this life, you have to go out and take it. Nobody’s going to give you anything and nobody’s going to meet you halfway.” I see in history where governments have done just that. Went out and took it. The same with growing religious systems. Christianity and Islam for sure. I don’t know Jewish history that well, but I’m sure Judaism enjoyed some expansionism too. I am sorry if my church is culpable, and no doubt Christianity has blood on its hands. I have to constantly remind my counterparts to look at the Elizabethan Trials if they think the Catholic church is the only one that’s guilty. “God,” to me is a concept in our minds. How did the universe get here? I’m not so sure it “got here.” Aristotle believed that the universe is eternal. Let science figure that out. To me, a religious system should be an opportunity to overcome ourselves, to grow, to realize our potential, and to become better people. If that requires violence between religious systems, I will divorce myself from religion forever. I read Victor Frankl’s “Man’s search for Meaning” back in the 1970’s. My mother gave it to me. In his book, he propounded the point that it’s not the things that happen to us in life, it’s our reaction to those things that makes or breaks us. Frankl went through hell and survived it, and I think, became a better person and a stronger one, because he never surrendered himself to complacency or defeat. It’s one thing to know these things, and quite another to incorporate them into our practical experience. I sometimes wonder if I ever will.
What I have seen in some of the reader responses on this website amounts to nothing less than Nazi hate. Of this I am not guilty. I crack my share of jokes, but I have too much respect for my values, my honesty, and for humankind to wish death and destruction on another human being. I have a heart condition that will kill me if something else doesn’t kill me first. I see a lot of medical advances coming out of Israeli companies. Maybe someday, they will save or extend my life. I harbor no ill will. I do want peace and prosperity for both Palestine and Israel, and I hope they can work that out someday soon. Who controls the media is no real concern of mine. I won’t make the Jews a scapegoat for my personal problems or anger. As Victor Frankl said, that’s my responsibility. Not anyone else’s.
In truth, I wish everyone the best. As far as that hooker, I respect her for reaching out to me, and she was so right. If you want something in this world, you have to go out and take it. Just try not to step on someone else.
May we all arrive in one piece.
