Once a year on Victory Day, May 9th, a grand military parade is staged in downtown Moscow. Streets are closed to civilian cars, as hundreds of military vehicles and thousands of troops move through the central streets to Red Square.
This massive demonstration of Russia’s military power requires a rehearsal, held ten days ahead of the event.
This year’s parade is expected to feature 9,000 troops and 69 aircraft, including Ka-52 “Alligator” helicopters, Il-76 cargo planes, TU-160 bombers, and A-50 early warning planes. The S-400 “Triumph” anti-missile system will also be on display.
