i get the impression that is the one thing they steer clear from, even though the fact that the black population are ignored at least within the unrealistic world of advertising, and the people that control the advertising really should start to tackle the poor representation of black and asian people in commercial adverts.
everytime i am watching tv and the adverts start, i tend to change channels till they have finished because i get so fed up of seeing always white people promoting brand products.
i think to myself what is wrong with using a black or asian person once in a while?
why does it always have to be white people all the time?
black people buy soap powder, drive cars, use bank services, etc but we rarely see ourselves doing those things in adverts.
it is virtually impossible to spot a non white person in adverts and when you do it is always the one black woman man or child…and of course they always look out of place and not because they dont fit…no…its because we have become so used to always seeing the happy sensibly dressed white 2.4 family doing everyday things.
are there no black asian 2.4 families that do everyday things?
yes there is but we only see them in real life…on tv they dont exist.
so i think the less advertising and more real life the better.
