I’m a northern European medical doctor. A senior surgeon, working in the public sector of South Africa. I have done so the last 5 years. I do not want to speak outside my discipline, so this will be about the medical demise of SA. Most visitors to South Africa, who encounter the public health sector, do so by visiting a hospital or a clinic in or near the big cities. What they get to see is a hospital or a clinic, which is working, but not up to Western standards.
Before I came down here, I believed that pre-94 South Africa had a very good health care system for the white population, and nothing for the black. I soon discovered that was not the case. The Calvinistic white rulers of South Africa had built an elaborate network of public hospitals, reaching the outermost societies of this large country. We are talking about 5-600 beds hospitals far out in the rural areas.
Before 1994, they were well manned and equipped, and complicated procedures were carried out there. I know this. I’ve been to these hospitals and spoken to the people working there. I have gone through old patient files and surgical statistics. These were hospitals that catered for the black population.
This web of hospitals as I can see must have covered more or less 100% of South Africa’s population, including the former Bantustans or homelands. I know that the same situation was present as to schools. The ANC run a couple of campaigns like “Election before education” and “To make the country ungovernable”. As part of that, most rural schools were burnt down.
Keeping in mind the traditionally very violent African culture down here, one perfectly do understand why the hospitals built by the apartheid government, did not suffer the same fate. This has left us with a window to the past; we can clearly see that the apartheid government did not only care for their white population, but in fact, also took great responsibility for the black, at something that must have been an enormous cost.
Back to visiting South African hospitals… When doing so, the visitor will be shown one of a few hospitals, were not too many windows are broken, not all the equipment has been vandalized and not all the electric supply has been cut off. Now, go outside these hospitals, go to the former rural hospitals, and what do you find? You will find that the hospitals built for the black population, by the black ANC government, have been degraded and left unfunded. You will find hospitals with no doctors. Hospitals with no electricity. No X-ray equipment. No furniture. You actually will find old rural hospital inhabited by squatters!
It is for me a huge paradox that the black government seems to have zero compassion for their own population, as long as they can get away with it and no one can or will see it. The black population has not by magic become so much healthier after 1994 that these hospitals are not needed anymore. Au contraire, the black population is in dire need of these hospitals, but all they find are ghost hospitals. Many of whom I’ve visited, are beyond repair.
I am leaving South Africa now. I have paid my duties, and I am forever marked by Africa in the form of an entry and exit 9 mm bullet hole in my right upper leg. I got it because my robber was not happy with me handing over my 10 year old or something Nokia 6110 cellphone, and some small coins.
No wallet, no rings and only amalgam fillings… Now, what kind of doctor is that? My last word to South Africa: Go to hell!

Hi to all. I am glad that everybody have an opinion, it makes life interesting. I dont know the doctor that wrote the letter. Its a pity that the doctor feel like that. Unfortunately the medical sysytem might not be like it was 20odd years ago, but things change. We have first hand experience of the public sector medical treatment/facilities at the present moment. My wife was diagnosed with cancer five years ago. I dont have a private medical scheme and had no alternative as to go to a public hospital. I wish I had the ability to give enough praise to the treatment she recieved. It was of the highest quality. From the surgeons, oncologists, theater staff, after care and even the hosptial itself I can not find one thing to critisise. She has been going back for three monthly bloodtests and check -upps and I can only praise the treatment my wife recieve. The best rural hospital in South Africa is in Port Shepstone (a rural) area and people from all over are going there. Life is making choices. The majority of the “piepols” in the country made a choice and this is what they want. Let them have it. The people deserve the government they voted for. The biggest ripp of in any country is a medical aid. A medical aid is only for healthy people.
I would like to believe that the person writing this article is the genuine item. It worries me, though, that a person who proclaims to be a highly qualified medical professional would write an article with so many spelling and grammatical errors in it. It comes across as do some of the scam emails I receive that are supposedly from the IRA or the United States Internal Affairs or some such and is obviously written by an under-educated spoofer. Maybe this was also written by some hate-ridden individual making him/her self out to be something else. Not that I don’t appreciate the sentiment, I just don’t think we need unnecessary incitement from articles that may or may not be the truth.
I’m sorry but the letter above is hardly riddled with spelling or grammatical errors. In fact, I struggled to find a spelling mistake. Clearly the letter was written in the heat of the moment. And the author thereof is from Northern Europe, most likely from a country where English is not a first language. Do you really deem it worthy to nitpick the grammar of what should be viewed as a serious communication? Is that really what is important to you?

West tampering with our rainfall patterns: Sikhanyiso Ndlovu

A TOP Zanu PF official’s hypothesis for the failure of the party’s land redistribution programme is that Britain and America have imposed sanctions on the country’s weather patterns.
The stunning revelation was made by former education minister Sikhanyiso Ndlovu while addressing a public meeting in Bulawayo on Thursday.
Pressed to explain the decline in agricultural production, Ndlovu said Western countries are tampering with the country’s rainfall patterns in order to sabotage the land reform programme.
Zimbabwe embarked on the chaotic fast track land reform programme in 2000, forcefully taking prime agricultural land from the minority white farmers and parcelling it out to locals, most them supporters of the ruling Zanu PF party.
President Robert Mugabe says the programme was meant to correct historical wrongs in the distribution of land but opposition parties have accused Zanu PF of embarking on the programme as a way of propping up its waning fortunes.
Agricultural production has gone down drastically in the last fifteen years, with the government this year expected to import over 700,000 tonnes of maize from neighbouring to avert food shortages, partly caused by a dry spell sweeping through the country.
At independence Zimbabwe was said to be producing 28 million tonnes of maize, which declined to about 17 million tonnes in the 1990s.
“The West say we have failed. We have not; we are saying to them, bring the weather patterns to order and we will produce and even export to those countries,” Ndlovu said.
Ndlovu cited Stephen Hawking’s book Economic Hit-man, as containing damning evidence that western countries manipulated other nation’s rainfall patterns.
He reiterated his party’s official excuse that sanctions imposed on the country had wreaked havoc on the country’s economy.
Government is currently carrying out a land audit in various provinces and Zanu PF bigwigs who had been allocated large swathes of land are set to have some of the land repossessed

US tourist raped in Tsitsikamma

A US tourist was admitted to hospital in Knysna after she was raped by two men in the Tsitsikamma National Park, the SABC reported.
According to the report, the female tourist was raped while she was jogging along the coast in the park. The two suspects were allegedly illegal fishermen.
The two men, both aged 26, were arrested in the Storms River area on Sunday night, the SABC reported. They are expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
No further details on the incident were reported.

I read the doctor’s article by chance, I know exactly how he feels. We had attempted murder and armed robbery, made it to the private local hospital. We survived. Only 4 or 5 days later we managed to do the police declaration and start the case … only to be told they do not accept the private hospital’s report. Police said we should have gone to a state doctor, a state hospital … we both would have been dead before even reaching Katatura Hospital in Windhoek! The last time I was there to visit public services … disgusting.
Namibia is also falling apart … we are leaving Africa altogether … like my husband said … scars heal, but this attack on us, the public service and the police attitude has cut the roots for him.

Since ,I might get in an English Medium University ( where they at least had a quota system) English was a better option.For the record,my view of the current health system in South Africa is not that much different from anyone elses.However,if this forum is just about South Africa under Apartheid being a “Jewel”and the current state being lost without fighting for it,then I do not see the point.Henry’s hatred simply leads to more hatred.I think we all should be ashamed that nine devout Christians were killed in the USA while worshipping simply because they were black.This by a gunmen who was wearing the old South African And Zimbabwian flags.I am not sure what these people had to do with South Africa but I am sure Henry would be quite proud of this event.The world is a changing place.Unfortunately for Henry his viewpoint will make him standout and he will be judged accordingly and meet the same fate as this young man is going to meet.

This forum for me is about the truth. The main problem to me is our own mindsets in SA. I gladly bow down my head in shame to what my forefathers etc did to you and many others. Just as much there was a lot of wrongs done to us as well, my point, very simple: How long do we have to look at the past? How long before we as a nation can be as one. You are living abroad, just as me and man that feeling of a nation being one cannot be beaten. South Africa now, reverse apartheid and the facts are there to prove it. Nowhere has it been successful that two wrongs make a right. Have you ever noticed how quiet Mandela got towards the end? It is as he wanted to say something, he was crying inside and had no more words I left two years ago and my son and daughter still believes in SA. They are still there as a matter of fact. I am a proud South African who currently lives in Canada.I am not white but worked in South Africa even before 1994 when the problems this doctor mention already existed.For the record these problems have gotten worse and certainly crime has spiralled out of control since.There are many reasons for this including ineffective law enforcement,continued poverty,corruption from the top down.It might be that influx of immigrants has added to these problems but I do not believe that this is the major cause(these people are only looking for a better life as any one would and they are mostly hard working).I grew up under Apartheid and certainly suffered the humiliation and sadness that it caused me,my family and my people.I decided to leave because I felt for once I was not going to let anyone tell me what I can or cannot do.I go back to South Africa at least once a year.Even though I am sad that things are worse, I am encouraged by the young people who remain optimistic and get along.Unfortunately,posts about genetic mutations,IQ’s and genetic White Calvinistic Rulers only expose you for who you are and most civilised and informed people would not agree with you.I have sympathy for what this doctor went through.I started my career in a government hospital and left because of the same problems that this doctor talks about.I remember coming home one night feeling dejected.I was working at Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth in the Casualty when a young mother who had been waiting in the waiting room for hours was brought before me and her child was dead.No one had looked at the child.A doctor form Pakistan was held at gunpoint by a gangster who insisted that he stitch his friend while the friend was refusing to be stitched.He left South Africa psychologically scarred and these are just two examples.I left because this was emotionally draining and despite efforts it could not be changed.Even then the hospital was underserviced and understocked.For the record this was under a white government.Certainly it is worse now but the problem existed then already.Many who post on this blog would not admit to it because it did not affect them.They went to their protected and sheltered areas and it did not affect them or their family or their community.I would like to thank this doctor for the service to my country and feel sorry for the trauma and difficulties this caused him.South Africa certainly needs a change in Government and I can only hope that the young people would be courageous enough to do this as we were when we stood up to Apartheid.South Africa needs a government that is better able to deal with the problems that it faces.Unfortunately the fossils who continue to teach their kids to hate on either side of the black/white divide continue to make this difficult.

SA’s private clinics like MediClinic do compete well with their European counterparts however they are admittedly restricted to those can afford a good Medical Aid.
SA is still amazingly similar to a Truman Show where affluent South Africans (usually with a fair skin), expats and other Europeans in general live in an oblivious bliss. Most of them do not really care much about the increasingly derelict state of the country until it touches on their personal security.
I do understand and truly sympathise with the doctor, but the true catalyst remains as in most similar cases the bullet in his leg. The lower cost of living in SA is basically forfeiting some kind of life insurance one gets ‘naturally’ living in relatively safer Europe. That being said, not sure where Europe is headed either…

Usually when I write an open letter to someone, I spell their names with capital letters. Not only is this the correct way of spelling one’s name, but it also shows a sign of respect for the intended recipient. In your case, you’re lucky I haven’t abbreviated your name.
I listened in bewilderment as you addressed parliament on Wednesday. You made a complete mockery of the seriousness of the controversy surrounding Nkandla. It was clear to me then, that you already knew the decision of Nathi Nhleko with regards to paying back some of the money spent on your palace.
You knew that you were free and clear, yet you still had the audacity to laugh about it in Parliament.
Not only did you make a mockery of proceedings in Parliament, you laughed in the face of every tax paying citizen in South Africa. You laughed in the face of the poverty stricken, the starving, the homeless, the hopeless and the uneducated.
Alas, where are you now? You’re on a perfectly timed trip to Nigeria, to avoid the backlash from a very angry nation.
Your good story to tell is being self-narrated, with malicious bias and would for all intents and purposes, be categorized under pure fiction. Our country is on the brink of disaster. Crime rates are steadily increasing, unemployment is at its highest level in 12 years, our economy is at a standstill due to load shedding, union strikes and the ANC’s piss poor decision making; case in point, the new visa rules which will cripple our tourism industry.

You once stated that “corruption is a Western concept”. This may be true jacob, but then again, so is being elected the president of a democratic country. Your attitude to western concepts and culture is as fickle as you are corrupt.

I qualified as a Doctor in South Africa in the 80’s. left in 1992 looking at the impending demise. I cannot say I am surprised, just sad. But glad that I left.
I cannot speak with any great authority on health services today compared with what they were like in pre-1994 South Africa [all I know is from my observations which may not altogether match this person’s experience and I do know that health services are in great need of rehabilitation in the 2015 SA – they are very poor on the whole although there are some wonderful beacons of hope which he obviously didn’t take into consideration]. I have also spoken to countless doctors working in less than favourable conditions, some of whom would concur with the opinion expressed above but then they comment on conditions in some rural European hospitals & all is not well there as well.
However his comments about education cannot remain unchallenged because they are contrary to the facts and certainly from my day-to-day experience in that situation. Just to illustrate,the official policy of the apartheid government in terms of education was clearly stated –
“When I have control over native education, I will reform it so that natives will be taught from childhood that equality with Europeans is not for them” … “There is no place for [the Bantu] in the European community above the level of certain forms of labour … What is the use of teaching the Bantu child mathematics when it [the bantu child] cannot use it in practice? That is quite absurd. Education must train people in accordance with their opportunities in life, according to the sphere in which they live.”
“We should not give the Natives any academic education. If we do, who is going to do the manual labour in the community?”
“I have not consulted the African people on the language issue and I’m not going to. An African might find that ‘the big boss’ only spoke Afrikaans or only spoke English. It would be to his advantage to know both languages.” [re. Language Policy of 1994 which lead directly to the Soweto Riots in 1976].
In 1994, four times was spent by the government on educating a White child than what was spent on education a black child. We need to deal with the facts rather than opinions. We have enough challenges in South Africa without people like this spreading half-truths. Enough said.

Faith… Hmmm I don’t think that is your real name either. Blacks got the best parts of the country during Apartheid. The richest platinum ridge in the world runs through Boputatswana. The Transkei and Ciskei are fertile areas and good for agriculture. Many businesses were enticed there by generous tax incentives, the purpose was to develop the areas, but ya, when blacks are in charge, nothing happens.

Actually this is not the South Africa that I grew up in.Everyone got free education even though the services provided were inferior in black schools as opposed to coloured schools as opposed to white schools.There were semiprivate and private schools that were attended by white students where the parents did pay.Some of these schools also allowed a few “non-white” students to attend.Many of the state runs schools had school fees that parents had to pay for extras and this includes my parents and I am neither black nor white.Books were provided by the government for free to schools but supplies and services were far superior in white schools.Did any of you even live in South Africa or do you simply choose not to tell the truth?

I can compare – I used to check on staff at Ngwelezana hospital – it was always clean and patients quite well looked after under the socalled “white regeme” My mother had an operation at the Empangeni hospital – again well looked after in a very clean hospital. The years later my daughter went to have her baby in the Empangeni hospital now a maternity hospital only. Wow what a shock. Dirty no bed linen, staff were unbelievably un caring and no one in sight when my husband and I took her out of the hospital – we spent and hour trying to find someone to sign her out (passing labour wards where NO cleaning up had been done after ladies had given bith). Eventually we just walked out of the hospital with her file. That was 12 years ago – wonder if there has been a change?

What I mean by constructive is that we have to stop blaming the outside world, we want them on our side. What we need to do is to keep on reporting and making sure that the rest of the world can see it. Keep on posting the facts and stop pointing fingers, the truth has a nice way and will always prevail. I feel your hurt, I went through the same and maybe even worse. Since I left I am targeted by my own as being a sell out. Point is it is a process and as our culture has always been unique, we have to use that to defeat and most of all stay level headed. So true about the hospitals and university’s. I for one have been involved in upgrading supply and fitting of laboratory furniture and fittings over the years since 1977. It`s all in shambles to`day ! Pity on The New Agers ! :(( :( :(
South Africa had excellent state health care facilities prior to 1994 – they were clean, fully equipped, functional and manned by properly trained dedicated staff. In fact I chose to have my two children delivered in a state hospital in the 1980’s, in spite of the fact that we had an excellent private medical insurance. The reason was because I was so confident of the high standards of care in state hospitals.
The health care was available and accessible to people of all color and no one can dispute that because it’s a fact.
The ANC has closed down Nursing Colleges hand over fist while the country is facing a critical nursing shortage. Young people do not want to follow health care professions in South Africa anyway, because of the abysmal conditions they have to work under – and unsafe conditions, might I add. Its a well known fact that doctors have been attacked and female doctors raped while working in state hospitals at night.
Education, public services, basic services, policing, the military and pretty much everything has met the same fate as healthcare services.
The streets are filthy, crime is rampant and the quality of life for all citizens is poor.
White people are targeted and murdered on farms and in home invasions daily – the statistics are horrific.
It is clear from the writer’s letter (e.g. everybody thought state health care was only for whites pre- 1994) and daily reports in overseas media that the world did not have the full picture of the South Africa pre-1994 and don’t have the full picture now either of the 4th world country South Africa has been turned into in just 21 years.
” South Africa: go to hell”? South Africa has gone to hell a long time ago – in fact South Africa probably is hell for most of it’s citizens! Please go and read the ratings for South Africa regarding factors such as quality of life, safety and security, crime statistics etc. and you will see why South Africa IS hell.
Vanessa, I am a SA doctor working in Aus now because I feared for the safety of my kids. I have treated kids who were stabbed for their shoes in SA. What this doctor describe is 100% accurate. Access to those hospitals were 100% free for anybody. I was trained in those hospitals, to such an extent that I can easily find employment anywhere in the world. Those hospitals have gone and it will take decades to get them up to standard again.

In 1950s there were about 3 million blacks, 1994 24 million, 2015 there are over 50 million, they breed like rats with no thought of how these will be fed or educated.
By 2035 there will be over 100 million of them, mostly starving.

Craig, I am so sorry to hear of your situation. Do either you or your wife not qualify for a heritage visa for the UK? Failing that, does either one of you have an Irish grandparent, as you would then qualify for an Irish passport? We left in 1988 with two toddlers, and we have honestly never looked back. Actually, any type of EU passport would allow to reside in the UK, but only the Irish one also confers full political rights. I don’t think the consulate/ embassy are keen on disseminating this kind of information.

Seeing my once beautiful, lucrative, rich, clean country go down the drain, is heartbreaking to say the least… And I don’t care on flying fark if someone tells me I am racist, but who runs the country?? Look at the rest of Africa. These people has never build or accomplished anything, and what they get, they either burn, break or neglect. My advice is to anyone who has the means, get out of there… it’s not going to get better, on the contrary. :(

It is truly sad that the rest of the world listens to the rhetoric and diatribe of the incumbent politicians of Central and Southern Africa, rather than hear the words spoken by people like this doctor. Africa is poorer for his leaving and will continue to get poorer as more people like this leave. I wish that the population in South Africa would learn, like their neighbours in Zimbabwe, that life with their colonialist government was far better. IT may not have been fair (while is another subject), but at least they were (in Rhodesia especially) treated to education, medication, nourishment and employment. The situations were not ideal.. but were certainly better than their conditions experienced today. I did manage to leave my beloved country and continent, but it was a case of being forced out rather than by choice. I can only hope that years, live and effort given by the colonialists will not turn out to be in vain with the total demise of Central and Southern Africa.

Frans, I am with you on this one, thanks for the post. Ralph, as Frans said, if you were not there, do not talk, the politics of Africa is very involved and not as clear cut as you make it out to be. I am not a rasist, but am proud to be white. I have lived in South Africa for 52 years as stated, was born and grew up there. You are talking about insurance? South AFRICA IS NOT America to start off with, a lot of white South Africans also did and still does not have insurance to talk about, just to expensive. Where you are missing the point is that the starter of the thread are speaking about hospitals and the ones he is speaking about are public institutions which are in total disrepair for the reason of maladministration. I suggest you go to news 24 website South Africa and just see the corruption that is taking place in Sa by the government themselves to get an idea. My wife is Chilian, she lived in the States until 2008 December. We got married in Sa and she never believed that the country, Sa that is, are so bad, well I can tell you she wants nothing to do with Sa anymore.
So please, do not criticize if you do not have all the facts. It is easy to come to conclusions and yes, your view is your view and so is mine, views are one thing, facts though, completely different.
And when Ralph’s finished inspecting SA’s hospitals, he can nip over the border for a tour of Zimbabwe’s to see what SA’s will be like in a few years time.
I say great, I left almost two years to the month in coming July. I served my dues to SA for 52 years and nothing. Did military service etc. Today I am happy, relaxed and am looking forward to the next day. It was not easy to leave my whole world behind, sell everything and not knowing what awaits me, but it was worth the effort. I miss my people, cry for my Country, but the truth is, I can sleep at night and have a life. Thanks to a beautiful wife that guided me.

I am troubled with some of your analysis that the pre 1994 provided more care black population?
You say you had 5,000 beds for the population,,Do know what the black population was in the rural areas..Can you say millions….Can you tell me how the black population was going to access the hospitals without any insurance?

This has left us with a window to the past; we can clearly see that the apartheid government did not only care for their white population, but in fact, also took great responsibility for the black, at something that must have been an enormous cost.
My suggestion is that if you want to criticize the condition of the hospitals you would have a point…

I am a former South African doctor. I would like to confirm what this doctor wrote in his article. I have worked 6 years in the public sector. I have seen people die due to a shortage of the most basic equipment and medication. I have seen patients losing their limbs due to open fractures which was not taken to theatre for 3 months – wounds became septic and the limb needed to be amputated. I had to explain to patients that their surgeries would be postponed until the hospital management would pay the suppliers – effectively forcing them to stay in hospital with their fractures indefinitely. I had to witness polytrauma patients suffering from immense pain without having so much as a paracetamol tablet because the management did not have money to buy analgesia.
We have laid complaints about the situations we faced multiple times at several levels of government, but not once given an answer or at least an idea as to what would be done about the problem.
When you phone the hospital manager’s office, his secretary would tell you without any hesitance that he is at a spa. This happened on a weekly basis.
When the newspapers started covering these stories, the government responded by saying it was the apartheid-era’s fault.
Now, Ralph, you who say that this article is not factually correct, have you ever been to South Africa? Have you been to hospitals there? Have you ANY clue as to what is going on there? I dare you to go and see for yourself the current situation in that country! Better yet, try being admitted to a hospital. Your comments reveal how little you know and how completely ignorant you are! Get on the next plane to South Africa, I will meet you there and take you for a tour.
One thing you must understand, is that the situation was in fact a thousand times better before the ANC. These people in government today care less about the black population than any government ever did. I have seen this for myself. They care more about their own pockets than the well-being of their fellow human beings. They drive around in luxury vehicles and live in designer homes while their so called “comrades” are literally dying due to a lack of funding for hospitals. The writer of this article is only stating the facts, it holds no reward for him as a foreigner to say anything otherwise. May I also point out that the public sector has always been free; no insurance was ever needed. FREE healthcare was always provided.

Well guys i am doing a lot of charity work as a private person to support the public hospitals coz even in the big cities the wheels are falling off and the ANC government is not looking after the people of the country.. i regret to say if i go to a public hospital i will need a family member to go with me to look after me in hospital coz its really really BAD( example – you will sit in a Que for 2 to 3 days before you get help from a doctor).. i have seen it everywhere i goes.. people need to open there eyes and see how the wheels are coming off lately in this beautiful country, South Africa. its a disgrace that the poor and needy gets treated like that…..

You didn’t want to learn you jumped from one principle to the next as long as that principle past you, you supported that principle. The same went for the hospitals you thought the whites got better service than your black’s in your areas. You were never satisfied with anything the white people had given you and now you have nothing. It is good let this country fall to pieces then you won’t have anything and let’s see what you going to do then. I bet you will run to the Europe countries seeking asylum just to make miss use of the service they offer. Ralph read it again he says their are 5 hospitals with over 600 beds each in the rural area’s not 5000 beds for the population,There are about 500 hospitals in South Africa with Baraganath 3,22 beds ,Tygerberg with 1899 beds Grouote Schuur 893 that is just 3 hospitals 5,992 beds..

The problem is genetic diversity. Humans evolved in Africa and so black africans have the highest amount of genetic mutations. This makes even black african brothers with the same mother more genetically different than say a random chinaman and an englishman. This genetic difference means black africans have to be more biologically competitive to pass their genes on, They have to take what they can when they can without mercy. In contrast White europeans are so alike they are almost clones, cooperating with each other, being altruistic to the nth degree without a second thought.
But you failed to mention the main issue: black Africans have IQs on average in the low 70s.
If Africans were as smart as, say, the Jews Africa would be a garden of Eden and have a high standard of living.
OK, but you have to separate two things here. I don’t know about the low 70s but the reason ‘African’ people in general have say a lower ‘average’ IQ is because around the world and especially in SA, African people (and generations of slaves) have not received the best education (which correlate with western IQ tests). So of course it would be different – even if you look at the white population and divide them by quality of education, the will also have very different average IQs.
No my friend, I totally disagree, quality of education in Sa pre 1994 was on par with the rest of the world. It is the same as I use my chances or I do not care. The black population only cared for being militant, except those that even in those dark days harnessed it. Yes, there was segregation, that did not stop them from having schooling etc. Just look around you on this forum and see how many South Africans are now abroad and they hold good jobs??????

I offered South Africans a new educational system over 18 years ago to help identify the basic shape identification. (square, round, triangle, etc etc)

What the doctor said is 100% correct. While I was in school in SA, I helped out at hospitals during my free time and all throughout my holidays, I am talking of pre-94 years. Even if Apartheid (which was started under English regime if you following the SA history closely) hospitals for blacks and whites were identical. Now, if a black person has enough money (and the get this easily through bank loans in SA) that person will get a private medical aid and get the best treatment at hospitals anywhere in SA. There is no difference between whites and blacks anymore, except racism has now become the order of the day for blacks. So, pre-94 hospitals were well-administered for both ethnic groups which is different now. Racism has become a purely black problem, even amongst themselves (know that SA have over 850 different tribes) there is racism and blacks are not safer from other blacks or whites safer from blacks. It is a problem created by the ANC and the black government, who promised way back when that all blacks will have houses, electricity etc.. This promise could not be kept because, although SA received and still receives financial aid from Europe and other parts of the world, this financial aid wanders into the pockets of the government members and nothing is left for the black population. I just give you an example of the palace built for the current president who came into power with almost nothing to his name. It is so sickening to think that such a beautiful country is going down the drain.
Ya, there are many SAs abroad with good jobs, me included… but they are mostly white / non-black. If you want to educate yourself, look up the Bantu Education Act that came in in the early 50s. Black schools had either entirely no funding or no electricity or running water. I hate the ANC just as much as the next person, but not because they are black but because the are corrupt and selfish. And I am definitely under no illusion that the National Party Apartheid government provided the even a basic standard of education for the ‘African’ population… of course if you were another colour, that’s a different story. Hence a nice overseas jobs and money for a visa. Nice, isn’t it ;)

The primary problem most public hospitals are facing is being inundated with influx of immigrants(yeah not denying them services which is an african thing to do by the way) ultimately rendering them basically under-funded in relation to. “…. traditionally very violent African culture..?” that is enough to gives an indication how socially dumn the so-called “Doctor” is.

I totally agree with you John Doe, just so frustrating. After all the hurt SA went through, I do not know how much people can take, it is a mindset problem. What they do not understand is that two wrongs do not make a right. It just makes it worse. On the lighter side, in SA I had two pure bred rotties, and if he said that to them well he would have been taken out, as I taught them whomever uses that word, time to bite.

Hi Paballo, don’t be so silly minded, it is still the ANC Govt letting refugees in, it is not the fault of the refugees, I am born and bred in SA and now live in UK because of the way they treated the refugees who worked for us on our farm and also in a landscaping company until 2010, they are giving more to SA than the local Xhosa and Zulu men who do not want to work, they rather enjoy their wives supporting them, go into the townships and rural areas and see for yourself, have you been into either! This is not about racism it is about what the ANC promised their people, Mandela was a magic individual with rainbow ideas and he must be turning in his grave to actually see that his people in rural and other areas are not receiving medical attention.
